WCI Whyte Communications Inc (WCI) was incorporated in 1994 and purchased the assets of the Ericsson Communications Edmonton Service Shop. WCI Whyte Communications is a systems oriented service shop with expertise in trunked radio, coverage extension and data communications. At WCI, our primary focus is to service the public safety, utility and industrial markets. WCI operates both a Harris EDACS network and a Nexedge Digital Network for the business industry market. In the past 5 years WCI has expanded to include fleet vehicle up-fitting as a compliment to our already exceptional technical centre.
In order to provide superior customer service WCI offers: 24-hour standby and mobile service from our technical staff. All WCI technicians have a minimum of two years training at an accredited electronics training facility. Our technicians have over 100 years of combined experience in the wireless industry. All technical staff must pass a security clearance with the Edmonton Police Service. Engineering support is available to WCI through Harris Wireless.
WCI operates two systems for City of Edmonton wide area coverage; the PRIME 800 and THE NEW DIGITAL NETWORK.
Prime 800 – Uses 800 Mhz technology. EDACS is the technology used by the City of Edmonton Police, Fire and Ambulance Service. The coverage is exceptional and offers radio communications from Fort Saskatchewan to Devon and from St. Albert to Nisku. EDACS provides communications to companies for whom radio contact is critical – either for safety or business reasons.
THE NEW DIGITAL NETWORK OFFERS cost effective method of City Wide Communications. The voice quality is exceptional and provides coverage through greater Edmonton. This latest technology is universal which allows the users to migrate to multiple systems throughout the Edmonton area or start their own independent network.
